International Fertilizer Industry Association

The International Fertilizer Industry Association (IFA) is a nonprofit organization that represents the global fertilizer industry, on issues related to the promotion of plant nutrients, improvement of the operating environment of the member companies and the collection and compilation of industry information.

      Assessment of Fertilizer Use by Crop at the Global Level 2015. Fully understanding the contribution of the different crop types to fertilizer use at national, regional and global levels is a prerequisite to the development of sound fertilizer demand forecasts. IFA gathers information on fertilizer use by crop in the main fertilizer-consuming countries. IFA’s country estimates currently cover 28 countries (considering the European Union (EU-28) as a single country). These countries account together for 94% of world fertilizer consumption.

      The IFA database contains historical production, trade and consumption statistics of nitrogen, phosphate and potash fertilizers. The figures are given in term of nutrients N, Products P, P2O5 and K2O.   All data on a nutrient basis are expressed in Thousands metric tonne nutrient while same data on physical basis are expressed in Thousand tonnes
